Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
Amazing player but I guess we'll see if he maintains that standard over the rest of the season and beyond - obviously hope he does.

I think it helps that, with a new manager with a different view on how football should be played, we're a bit of an unknown quantity in the league. We don't play like we used to so he may have a little more freedom. I guess the real acid test will be next season when we're a bit easier to figure out.

Aguero is the best player in the league
Silva and Sanchez are not far behind
Payet is up there with anything else I've seen

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
Best player in the league is probably Toure at City. World class operator who covers the whole park and does the job of about 3 men each and every game

- Read this and spat my tea across the keyboard.... you mean the same Toure who is widely panned for being a lazy fucker by pretty much everyone who watches him regularly? Even the City fans I know think he has been wank this season. Doesnt even do the job of 1 man most games let alone 3.

As for the question I can only think of 3 who I would even consider, Sanchez, Ozil and ..... actually scratch that, just the two. As many people have already said though, they are not as complete as Payet. When he is on the pitch he ALWAYS seems to do the right thing, he passes easy when he has to, can hit incredible passes when he has to, can shoot, awesome set pieces and that before you mention his sublime ability to dribble and hold onto the ball. The bloke is so good he is almost making me catch gay.

Can't think of any better creative MF this season...stats...and/or pure skill...

Possibles...: Ozil...Hazard-last season... Willian...Mata...Coutinho-Last season... Mahrez....Silva

Payet is my pick on this seaso's displays...

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
We will not sell Payet ahead of our first season in the OS.

He will then be another year older and therefore a bit less attractive.... if we can qualify for Europe then I reckon he will stay with us. Why would we sell a player capable of taking us to the next level when we don't need to?

I hate Cazorla, His little fucking rodent face really annoys me.

And that chant they do.

Cazorla can fuck right off.

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
Take away the price tags of all the best players in the league and put up their performances against Payet's. He's the best hands down.

Better on the ball. Better creatively.

Yaya blows hot and cold and hasnt been anything like his best. Neither has Aguero or Silva.

Ozil is great but doesnt score like Payet can.
Mahrez has been the nearest to Payet and despite Payet being injured for months, his record is still similar to Payet's.

I'd go as far as to say that considering the football I've seen this season in Europe, there is not one side in the whole world
he wouldn't improve.

Better than James, Isco, Krooz, Rakatic, Xolonso etc..

In fact, forget prem comparisons, I'd only compare him with the best at Bayern, Juventus, Barcelona, Atletico and Real Madrid.

The only downside is his age. But if Pirlo was killing it at 34 that's 6 years left of this hopefully.
I'd be amazed if one of the top European clubs doesnt come in for him if he keeps this form.
I really hope he doesnt sell.

As for comparisons withe DiCanio. He's a better player than DiCanio. DiCanio is a "character" but as players go, this guy's talents are top of the range. Some of the best you will ever see in your life time.

The only caveat as that it's up to a manager how he lets a player express himself. Bilic allows and trusts Payet. People like Mouhrinho and Benietez wouldn't. So sometimes players cant reach the levels there
capable of depending on the coaching. I think we are lucky that Bilic and Payet are together at the right time.
Hopefully Payet recognizes this and stays with us.

He didn't have decent stats at Marseille, he had the best in Europe.

When he came back from injury, he was still number 2 in assists/chanes crested stats, only behind Özil........after 2 months out!

That is more than just decent.

I suspect you're in the mood for being different from the crowd, FCJ.

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
By common consensus this is the first season in which Ozil has played at the top of his game consistantly... Payet has hit the ground running from the start and has been outstanding.

'Decent' Ha Ha.

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
I saw some piece on Sky Sports just now about the best midfielder in the division this season.

Payet barely even gets mentioned...

Shouldn't be surprised I suppose. If you're out for a couple of months, you're just forgotten about.

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
I think he is far better than merely decent. especially considering that the general consensus is that he has been the buy of the season, from fellow fans, rival fans and those in the game.

Re: Would you swap Payet for any other Premier League player?
If you don't think he's anything more than just 'a decent player' then you must have been watching different games to me.
